Hello, Hello, everyone! It time for another Weekly Wednesday here at the Prickly Pear Boutique! As I'm sure you've all noticed by now, Spring is here! If it hasn't made it's way to you, I hope it gets there soon! It's been either really nice or really rainy here recently (I prefer the sunny weather, but oh well). With spring what do you normally associate with it? Flowers, rain, blooming? What about bees? Yes! Bees are definitely something you see in spring! This week, I decided on--you guessed it--a bee themed roundup. Enjoy!
Item #1 is from thewrappedpixie
You all know I'ma huge fan of stacking rings. This set is no different! This is a set of 5 rings--two are hammered, two are twig barked, and the last one is the bee ring. The use of the different textures definitely adds to the piece because of the visual interest. You can wear all 5 at the same time or you can mix and match from this and other sets!
Item #2 is from RSVPhandcrafted
I saw these and thought they were awesome! They are personalized leather coasters with a bee on them. The shape is very unique...Most coasters are round. You can personalize your coasters from the stain, the text, and the stamp. I really like the bee stamp with the shape of the coasters...I think the two go very well together.
Item # 3 is from NestPrettyThingsShop
I'll have to say that the way this bee looks is my absolute favorite! It's very detailed and very elegant. They are a nice size--not too big or too small--the perfect size.
Item #4 is from NoteworthyPaperPress
I love tea towels! I probably have to many...or maybe I need to toss a few that are getting raggedy (raggedy is probably the case). I love how bright these are! They will definitely add a pop of color to your kitchen. Since these are flour sack towels (love these) you can dry your crystal or glass pieces with them and not leave a lot of lint like a majority of other towels do. The detail of the bee is also very nice and shows the true bee.
Item #5 is from LunaSavita
This necklace is meant to imitate the honeycomb that bees create when they've got all of their pollen. I think that this piece is rather unique, as many makers don't tend to make things like it. I could see it becoming a very trendy piece, and an even larger honeycomb piece would make an awesome statement pendant!
Item #6 is from PlantablesLLC
Since bees are starting to become endangered, I feel like we really need to do our part (now more than ever) to do what we can to help save the bees. Most bees are attracted to certain wildflowers, so planting as many as we can would presumably help. I love that the makers of these bee bombs have regional specific bombs! You want to grow what the bees like in your area (plus, the weather can kill what's not acclimated to your growing region. With these seed bombs, you don't have to plant anything. you simply toss the bomb out to where you want to see pretty wildflowers :) The clay in the bomb protects the seeds from being eaten by hungry birds or other animals, while the compost contained within provides the nourishment the seeds need to grow! I've been thinking of doing this to a part of my backyard since we have land and try to help with the bees.
Item #7 is from ArbotiqueDesigns
This ring just screams "Queen Bee" to me. Probably because the bee is on a crown ring! Crown rings have been very popular in recent months, but a bee tops this ring off and gives it an extra edge. It would be a great gift for a friend, your mom, or yourself.
Item #8 is from RosemarysHandMade
I love how elegant this embroidered art is! There's so much detail in this one piece! It's very rustic and it also has a French touch. If you don't like the color of the embroidery, the maker welcomes changes.Personally, I think this combination of fabric and embroidery thread is absolutely perfect.
Item #9 is from Yesternow
I saw this little ring dish with a bee on it and thought it was absolutely darling! This dish is made from porcelain, and the bee is applied with an underglaze before the firing process. I probably would use this for a jewelry dish as it would be great for those of us who need a place to corral rings and other tiny things. But wait! You don't have to specifically use this for jewelry---if you have a need for a small dish (maybe a soap dish) then this is for you!
Item #10 is from TheBonnyBoutique
Since I've posted pretty much every other type of jewelry, I thought I might should include a bracelet. This bracelet has a bee charm on a delicate gold-plated chain There is a tiny gold-colored droplet also on the bracelet that gives the illusion of honey production.
Item #11 is from PolkadotApplePillows
This honestly does scream 'French' to me. I'm not sure what it is about it--maybe the detail of the bees and the french words at the bottom. It strikes me as a very rustic French with the burlap. This pillow and insert (a definite plus when you don't have an insert around) would be great for the spring and summer times in pretty much any room of your house because you can never have enough pillows!
That's all I have for you this week, my lovelies. I couldn't narrow my favorite bee themed items down any more than this, so I hope you enjoyed your extra-special Weekly Wednesday :) It doesn't happen as often as I'd like, but I'm hoping to make it occur more frequently in the coming weeks and months. Now, make sure to head over to your favorite handmade site and show some artists some love!
Until next time,
