Hello, everyone. It's time for another Weekly Wednesday! The time has now changed, and we're headed into the winter months. What stands out to most people about winter? It's cold! This week, I decided to feature some fashionable and comfy items that will keep you warm in the wintertime. Not much better than being warm and comfy when it's cold out, right?
Item #1 is from knitonetoo
Anyone always have cold hands? I can't be the only one, so I thought it would be a good idea to feature an item that will help keep our hands warm and still let us carry out our everyday activities. Whether you're typing or writing, painting or sewing, these lovely teal gloves will allow you to keep warm and be colorful at the same time. I love how the teal has specks of color interwoven into the yarn--it adds a little more pizzazz to the look. The cable knit is also a classy pattern that enables these gloves to stay in style no matter what.
Item #2 is from Avaneska
I love this slouchy hat! The slouch just gives the hat a little more style than one made to exactly fit the head. The chunky yarn and button also had a little somethin' somethin' to the style factor as well. I feel like this one is definitely a contender for keeping our heads warm without sacrificing style. If you prefer a color other than gray, there are several to choose from at checkout!!
Item #3 is from JustaGuyKnits
I know I said that the slouch hat had more style than the ones that fit the shape of the head, but I love the fur poof on top. And, ...surprise! It's removable! You can detach it for washing or for switching between hats! That's pretty darn neat in my opinion. The color and cable knit pattern are a nice touch as well.
Item #4 is from MercierMarche
Maybe it's just me, but I've mainly been a wearer of the good old, everyday scarf--the long piece that you just wrap around your neck. I'm really loving the color and the chunky knit of this one. It is also really long (7 feet)--which is nice because sometimes you want to drape it a little more without it looking funny with those short ends (and I know everyone has that issues from time to time). This particular color is called "spice, " and I think it's a very pretty color--but if you want a specific color there a many to choose from.
Item #5 is from JannysGirl
Blanket scarves have been very trendy in the fashion world this year--I think they actually rival the infinity scarf that's been popular in recent years. I personally haven't tried the blanket scarf yet, but I can see how they would be a popular item. They definitely have multiple uses--scarf, shawl, or maybe even something to sit on when you're in a park reading. You even could lay it at the foot of the bed for a little color and/or decoration! I really like the color combination in this one--reminds me of fall, but it could be used throughout the winter. The only thing you'd need in addition to this is knowledge of how to tie scarves ;)
Item #6 is from MaxMelody
When fall and winter roll around it's time to break out the sweaters! There are chunky ones, off the shoulder ones, oversized ones, etc., the options are endless. This sweater is longer than most--I don't know about you, but I always end up with sweaters that are too short. It also has sleeves long enough to cover most of your hands (love!) that allow for you to get nice and comfy. The detail on the sleeves and around the neckline is definitely a nice touch and adds a bit of feminine flair.
Item #7 is from CraftsbySarahLiz (boot cuffs) and Item #8 is from socksandmittens
I think, so far, that I've covered everything to keep the head, arms, and body warm, so I think we need to think about the legs and the feet. Gotta keep those tootsies warm! I love these socks! They're so colorful! They would be great to wear with boots because most people need thicker socks to take up any extra space in the boot itself not to mention keeping the feet warm. I don't necessarily like having a lot of excess room because I feel like I'm stomping around in boots that are huge--that's why I suggest these. I'm also loving these boot cuffs! I've always wanted a pair but never actually gotten any. I may have to do so soon. I love how simple these are..The button is a great touch and adds a bit of visual interest without going over the top. They would be great if you're wearing socks or if you're not. We don't need a draft going down our legs now, do we?!
That's all I have for you this week! I hope you've enjoyed the roundup of warm and comfy yet stylish pieces. I'm definitely ready for the cooler weather! Please hop over to your favorite handmade site and show some artists and makers some lover!
BIG OLE NOTE: There will not be a Weekly Wednesday until December (although I'll still be browsing)! Why you ask? I'M GOING TO EUROPE! I'll have lots of pictures to post when I get back..unless I have a lot of time during layovers. With that, I'm signing off, and I'll see you in December!
p.s. Feel free to share, like, pin, tag, or tweet!
Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Halloween and ended up with a mountain of candy! I was having some trouble coming up with a theme for this week's Weekly Wednesday, but when I got my new phone, I thought that it might be a good idea to feature some phone cases and accessories. There are some new phones out--iphone 7 and 7 plus and Google's Pixel--and I sure everyone is looking for acccessories. Even if you don't have a new phone, we all need case and organization ideas, right? I've made this edition a bit longer than usual because I divided it up in sections and found some neat items for each category. You never can have too many ideas for your phone, and organization is pretty darn important.
Item #1 is from LovelyCaseCo
I'm absolutely loving the color combination of this case! A nice teal with gold confetti (not real gold, though). Definitely pretty! You get a choice of a slim or tough case in your device choice (many options), but if you're like me, I'd opt for the though. The slim case is just a shell that fits onto your phone while the tough case is the shell with a silicone lining which allows for a snug fit. The dye process makes the design non-fade and fleck resistant so you'll have a pretty case for however often you change your case! Make sure to check out the other design options in the shop...lots of goodies!
Item #2 is from artbyLucie
If you like color (like me), then this case is definitely for you. It has so many tints and shades of several colors, and the combination is gorgeous.
The design is an image of one of the maker's original creations. It's a hard plastic (like that used in motorcycle helmets) and is UV and scratch resistant. I'm definitely glad these two features are included because nothing is worse than a faded case or a scratched up case (because you know I drop everything...a lot). There are several options as far as the devices this can be made to fit, but it does not fit any of the iPhone plus sizes....and I just got a 7 plus...darn it.
Item #3 is from CactiCase
I thought this case would be a nice way of keeping something tropical and colorful in your life when it's chilly out...if you live in a place that gets cold (if you're in a warm place all year round then this will keep you in theme with your setting). This case is made of a clear rubber material, so I'm assuming it's flexible (I personally like the flexible ones because I don't feel so paranoid about breaking the case) and has a lip over the screen for added phone protection.
Item #4 is from ochicusa
This case is probably my favorite out of the ones I've featured today. I find I absolutely gorgeous. It's just...in a word...elegant. I'm drooling over here. The colors used compliment each other so well...it's very serene. Each crystal/individual piece is glued and placed by hand to create the design. The case is a hard, snap-on case is the best quality available. If you're clumsy like me, I'm sure you're wondering what happens if the crystals fall off. The makers offer a 30-day warranty on all phone cases. Just be careful with it and you'll be fine :)
Wallets and Wristlets
Item #5 is from TheTangledPath
I've seen a lot of "wallet" cases while browsing for phone cases and accessories. I normally would say that I'm not a fan of the phone wallet, but I love this design and the fact that the screen is protected. I'm very careful with my new phone because I'm afraid I will scratch the screen. The case has a built in strap and an elastic closure in addition to space for three cards. It's definitely something that would be good for when you're going out and don't want to haul a purse around with you or just a way to be stylish and functional.
Item #6 is from thameowdesigns
I like the wristlet because you can keep up with your phone simply by keeping it on your wrist. Not only do you keep up with it, but it is also protected by the inner layers of felt. I love the color and pattern of the fabric (which looks to be a home decor fabric--very durable). In addition to being a safer way to carry your phone, there is a small pocket for storing cards or ear buds. Make sure to check out the shop for a variety of items in a wide array of fabrics.
Phone Accessories and Organization
Anyone else have issues keeping things organized and untangled? Good, I thought so! Maybe these items will help you out some.
Item #7 is from SkylineStands
This case is really neat with its checkerboard, wood pattern. It's a minimalist design but is still visually entertaining. It holds a number of phone sizes with its wide slot and serves as a disguise of the charging process. The stand is hand-sanded (that's a mouthful!) and sealed with a polyurethane coat with rubber bumpers on the underside to prevent slippage.
Item #8 is from SilverwareCrafts
I thought this stand was pretty cute with the detail on the phone ledge, but I looked closer and noticed the spoon holding the stand! How neat is that?!? It's so cute and whimsical! I believe I've had some of the spoons that the maker has used to prop the stand..haha. It's a unique way of making the charging process a lot prettier.
Item #9 is from Tiff2anyDesigns
I'll be honest...I almost squealed when I saw this. It's just too cute, and it makes me smile! This cutie has multiple uses--coin purse, chapstick holder, ear bud holder, etc. you all know how I love mutlti-purpose items. There are four embroidered face types to choose from--fox, cat, owl, or raccoon. I missed the cat somewhere...I'm sure it's also cute. I really like the clip because you can attach it to one of the zippers in your purse or on the special hook that comes in some purses or you can put it on your keys.
Item #10 is from RealWoodStudio
I saw this ear bud holder and thought it'd be great for showing a minimalist design. I feel like it would be a great gift for a guy...they are hard to buy for, you know. This piece was completely handmade---hand-turned on a lathe, sanded, and sealed. I think it's a really great idea comparing it to a yo-yo, although I wouldn't suggest trying to use it as one ;) The maker has a lot of other handmade wooden items in their shop if you're curious.
Item #11is from SewitGirl
If there's a way to neatly store your ear buds, there's definitely a way to neatly store your lightning cables. The cords wraps keep your cables neatly organized and contained where there is no chance of entanglement. These come in a set of 3 wraps that are adjustable...the charging cables come in different lengths you know, and if you're like me you have a longer one so you can lay in bed comfortably and charge at the same time so it would make sense that you'd need extra room. Each wrap has fleece interface giving it a sturdy feel. There are a variety of options for the super cute fabrics, too.
Item #12 is from frankieandcocopdx
If you travel (and even if you don't), this pouch would be a perfect solution for corralling all of your cords and chargers. I'm leaving for an awesome trip in a couple of weeks, and we have several cables and devices that we are taking with us. Something like this would be great to keep it all together in one place instead of fumbling around in my backpack for the right cable or charger. I really like that it's made from canvas. Canvas is a more durable fabric, and I really just like the feel of it. You don't have to worry about the plugs pushing through or anything like that. This bag is also fully lined and comes in two sizes. Fully lined is an indicator of good quality and is something I personally look for in products like this. The zipper is yellow in this image, but there are more colors to choose from. Make sure to check out the maker's shop for all of the other items she has!
That's all I have for you this week! I hope you all enjoyed this special, longer edition of Weekly Wednesday and also found it helpful. Make sure to head on over to your favorite handmade site and show some artists some love.
