Item #1 is from STCHandmade
These incredibly cute earrings are handmade from old book paper! I saw them as I was browsing and knew immediately that I had to feature them! They're so unique--I've never seen them before and we all know I do A LOT of browsing on Etsy. They're upcycled from old books that probably would've ended up in a landfill or burned (don't want a Farenheit 451 going on), so that's another plus to them besides their uniqueness :) The origami flowers are dipped in a water-based finish to give them shine and durability (water-resistant,too!). You get a choice as to what finish you'd like your posts to be: -gold- or silver-finish. These aren't huge earrings, so they'll definitely add a subtle but unique impact to your outfit.
Item #2 is from LamFaTiTa
I'll have to say that the first thing that caught my eye about this necklace was the mint color accented with gold foil. I not only love the color but also the shape and minimal nature. The triangle hangs on a 14k gold plated chain and is about 1x1 inches in size. Not massive, but not tiny--just right. The chain is 19.5-21.5 inches in length--perfect length. Make sure to choose whether you'd like gold foil flakes or 23k gold flakes at check out. Personally, I'd go with the 23k gold flakes for a little extra cash! So loving this piece!
Item #3 is from TwoFeathersNY
I love this bracelet. It's so simple and striking! You have rough cut, silver/gray diamonds--I'm a huge fan of the rough cut--and Karen Hill tribe silver beads. Karen Hill tribe silver is a fair trade, high purity silver that will not tarnish as quickly as sterling silver. The maker includes some really interesting information about how the skill of creating tribe silver is passed down and how it helps sustain the 6 hill tribes of Thailand. Definitely a must have because it goes with everything!
Item #4 is from RossanaJewelryDesign
This is a gorgeous ring that can be worn alone or with other rings. It's called an infinity ring because there's no beginning or end. It's made of 14k gold-filled wire which brings the luxurious nature of solid gold without the large expense. You have an unlimited number of options in how you could wear this beauty as well as a number of outfits it could accent!
Item #5 is from lefrenchgem
These stamped earrings are bringing the boho look and feel without the weight of solid metal. I'm loving the bold detail at the top in combination with the smooth bottom of the earring. Even thought the detail is bold, it's not overwhelmingly so. You've also got texture, but not a harsh one, which makes this pair of earrings even more desirable. The leverback safety back is platinum-plated and tarnish resistant and prevent you from losing one. I'm sure many of us have had that happen before--maybe more than once! The vibe I get from these earrings is elegance with a little bit of fiestiness/mystery and I love that those characteristics can be combined into a single piece of jewelry.
Item #6 is from Luxuring
I saw this gorgeous ring and fell in love! I'm not a fan of pink at all (and I guess that sort of goes for rose gold too), but the combination of the rose quartz and the rose gold setting and band are incredible! They go perfectly together--there's a certain harmony about them. You do have the choice of yellow gold, but I think rose gold is definitely the way to go. The hammering on the band gives some visual texture and adds interest. It's the perfect accessory for an ultra-feminine look without overdoing it. I'm going to have to save up for this one because the more I see it, the more I like it!
Item #7 is from RhondaLynneJewelry
I'm really a fan on the triple earring. Each is a slightly different shape and a different color. Even though the black stands out moreso than the other colors, this set is pretty neutral. These will definitely make a statement with absolutely any outfit of your choosing. Wondering how long these are? 2 5/8 inches--a good size for these simple statement earrings. These would make wonderful gifts for your friends, a female family member, or maybe they're the perfect gift to yourself! Who wouldn't love a new pair of earrings?!
Item #8 is from AlphaVariable
First, I love the name of the shop--the letters are almost inversions of each other. :) I'm becoming a huge fan of stacking ring sets after I received my first set about a week ago when my boyfriend's grandparents returned from New Orleans. I think I'm addicted now..haha. I really like this particular ring because you could technically build your own set of stacking rings. The rope detail would add visual interest to any set or would be great worn on its own. I'm also loving the antiqued silver color. Make sure you select you size at checkout ; It's available in sizes 4-10 (US sizes).
Item #9 is from inbalmishan
I've been into raw gems here recently. Sometimes, they're more gorgeous than their polished counterparts. I love how simple and elegant this necklace is! You can see the subtle blue of the stone in its natural state. The listing is for one necklace, but it would be great for layering (either with other jewelry or with a second of the same one). The pendant itself is about 1.2 inches and is brass soldered with 24k gold plating. The chain length is up to you, but there's a choice of three lengths (16, 18, 20, and 24 inches). The chain itself is so delicate and has the added details along its length.
This is all I've got for you today, but I'll be back next week with more of my favorites....probably home decor...hmmm...not so sure yet. Fell free to comment below with a theme or category you'd like to see featured on Weekly Wednesday ;) I hope you enjoyed this week's edition as much as I did browsing. Now go over to your favorite handmade sites and show some artists some love!
Until next time,
Hello, everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope you're ready for a new edition of Weekly Wednesday. Now, I know I said I'd have more than 5 favorites for you all this week, but life got in the way and I only managed to get five. I'm even writing this a bit later than I normally would! I'll shoot for next week...hopefully :p This week-after looking back on my picks-I think I went with a chunky jewelry theme. Statement pieces are great and can really draw an outfit together.
Item #1 is from TeriLeeJewelry
I love this ring because it's got a raw stone. I think it adds a little something to the piece. The twig band is another element I'm a huge fan of. It's a very natural, simple piece that makes a stunning impression. The band is made of sterling silver, which means no green on your fingers and no allergic reactions (always a plus). You definitely could wear this with pretty much any outfit to add a little pizazz.
Item #2 is from berylblushblonde
Now, I'm not normally a big fan of spike jewelry, but I can see the potential in this one. Most of the time I feel like spike jewelry is associated with punk, emo, gothic, etc styles but this one steps out of those categories a bit and combines a bit of femininity. I guess you could say it gives one a sassy, mysterious vibe. I really like the way the spikes are hanging instead of pointing straight out like a dog collar--I think that's what really drew my attention to it. Definitely a must have for the head strong, sassy lady.
Item #3 is from AmaliaVersaci
This one is probably one of the two chunkier pieces in this edition. I don't know what it is about this necklace, but I really like it. I think it's the different shapes that do it for me...visual texture if you will. This would be excellent as a solo piece (no earrings or bracelets) not only because of its size but because of the mix of shapes and textures. You never want to have too much going on in one piece. I love that the maker has combined modern pieces with more vintage ones. It sort of ties everything together in a wonderful way. Her other stuff is great too, so definitely take a look if you're a fan of statement pieces.
Item #4 is from Cherrytreeliverpool
Here we've got a very nice, sleek statement ring. I really like the dimpled look because it adds a little detail to the ring that gives it the handmade feel. The ring is made entirely out of sterling silver that has been shaped to have outwardly curved edges for the inner ring to move. When I say inner ring , I'm referring to the piece that looks like it's more toward the left side in the picture. This piece moves! That's so neat! I'd be messing with it all day--especially when I'm thinking. I could see this being something that would help with mindfulness and meditation--multipurpose. Another aspect of this ring is that it's unisex, which isn't something you usually find in rings. Either way--male or female--this would be a great piece to add to your collection!
Item#5 is from thegemco
As the maker states in the description, this necklace will add a "bold pop" to any outfit. "Bold" in the colors and size of the beads makes for the perfect statement piece. The faceted surfaces result in a very nice visual texture and add a feminine quality to it. You could wear this one with anything--dresses, business attire, casual business attire, casual, etc. The options are endless! Ombre is also very fashionable right now, so you'd be trendy with this piece. Gorgeousness!
That's all for today, folks! I'll do my best to have more than 5 next week, so keep your fingers crossed! Now that you've seen some beautiful stuff, head over to your favorite handmade site and show some artists some love!
Until next time,
Hello, everyone! Are you excited for today? We're hopping back to the original Weekly Wednesdays today (as in not themed), but fear not, more are in store! This week we're hitting upon jewelry and accessories (hair accessories), and I'm excited, so let's jump right in!
Item #1 is from NonaDesigns
I'm absolutely loving the colors in this bracelet!! Anything colorful is usually right up my alley, although the occasional neutral does catch my attention. This bracelet is also a dual purpose piece--another big plus in my book! It can also be a necklace. I really like when I can find a dual purpose piece because I'm not limited in how I wear it or what I can wear it with. Sometimes I might want some color at my neckline because I'm wearing a dark or plain shirt, you know? Also, don't think that just because it's dual purpose that the necklace is going to be really short--it's not. This piece is approximately 87 inches long and wraps around a 7-inch wrist about 12 times. Lots of room for a nice necklace. Curious about what kind of beads are used? I've got you covered there too--faceted jade, cherry quartz glass, coral marble, jasper, and other glass seed beads. The tassel is optional and doesn't cost extra for the one, but you can add more if you'd like.
Item #2 is from redtruckdesigns
How often do you see hair combs? That's exactly why I like this little piece. This would be great for someone who likes to put their hair up but has shorter hairs that fall loose in their face (Really, who doesn't have this problem?) With this you'll be able to see without constantly brushing at your face and look cute at the same time! I saw this piece and was instantly captured by the patina on the bird. It's distressed but still very pretty. I've dabbled in some patina work before, and it can be difficult to achieve the color you want, but the end result is always great even if there are slight differences in pieces. The comb measures 3 1/4 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches tall, so it's not overly huge or heavy on your head.
Item #3 is from ArmoredJewelry
Anyone else a fan of feathers these days? Jewelry that looks like feathers I mean. Real ones tickle too much. I love a simple, understated ring like this one. You've got an elegant feather and a thin band. It's minimalistic but still a striking piece. The maker creates this ring from sterling silver (don't have to worry about anything turning green here!) and polishes it to the perfect shine. All rings are made when ordered, so make sure you know your ring size so you can put it in at checkout.
Item#4 is from hangingbyathread1
Love the cute little bees!!! (as long as they aren't trying to sting me..haha) I've seen A LOT of bee charms as a crafter, and I'll have to say that this is by far one of the best. Some are cartoon-ish, while others are scary looking. Not these. This is a set of two bobby pins with golden, raw brass-stamped bees. These would definitely be great for those little wispy pieces of hair that are always in the way (hair up or down)! The bees themselves are 1 inch in length giving each pin a total length of 2.5 inches. Not too big and 1000 times better than the plain old bobby pins that many of us have lost!
Item#5 is from stavroula
Those of you who read my posts regularly know that I really don't like the color orange (or certain pinks), but my goodness this piece is gorgeous. I think the orange doesn't bother me because it has the green and the red spacer beads in there, but anyway...it's gorgeous! This beauty is made from textured acrylic beads and orange wooden beads and has a lobster clasp closure. I like that it's not terribly short at 18-20 inches long. Even though it has color, this piece is still simple but yet makes a statement. I could see wearing it with a number of outfits, so you definitely have versatility in this necklace.
That's all I have for you this week, but I'll have more next time. I've had to have my attention focused elsewhere (job-related), but no worries, I'll make up for it! I hope you enjoyed today's edition and tune in next week!
Until next time,
p.s. Head over to your favorite handmade site and show some artists some love!!!
Hello, everyone! I thought I'd give you an update on my first craft show in three years that happened a couple of weeks ago! I'll have to say I was pretty nervous going in. My mom couldn't find the white table cloths that I had previously used, and I didn't have tables. That right there is a crafter's nightmare! I really wanted this to go well, so I'd been preparing for it for a while.
I managed to locate some tables via my boyfriend's mom--a big thank you to her! Until I got to the site of the show, I had no idea how I was going to set up the tables. I figured I'd use some fabric I had for tablecloths--1 for each table. I was in for a big surprise there...none of my pieces would cover any of the table entirely! SO...apprentice mode initialized! I brought a crap load of fabric with me so my boyfriend and I thought...let's do three fabrics with a unifying one in the center! I love the result! Hopefully, I'll have time to sew them together before the next show, but who knows.
In the weeks prior to the day of the show, I grabbed a couple of old windows that had been sitting outside the chicken house on our property and slowly transformed them into displays. This wasn't an easy feat in the least. First I had to clean them off because they'd been sitting for who know how long--probably a decade (they were older windows to begin with)--and removing the glass. Not one piece of glass was broken in the process! Go me! However, on a windy, rainy afternoon, the wind caught the bigger piece and it shattered into a bazillion pieces, but it's ok because I didn't plan on using it anyway (oh, a rhyme). I had to cut some wood to fit the now empty spaces and then staple some canvas fabric to it. The chicken wire was the last part before shoving (yes, I did say shoving) in the pieces, and let me tell you, that chicken wire did a number on my hands and fingers (there weren't gloves small enough to allow me to grip like I needed to). Because the chicken wire was attached, it made the size slightly smaller than the openings, and the big one was the issue. After several unsuccessful attempts and shoving the inner piece in, my boyfriend, our roommate, and I had to take part of the big frame apart, insert the inner piece, and put the frame back together!
I really love the center table the most. The fabrics went really well together, and the pennant banner popped. It was definitely the "shabby-chic"-ish look I wanted! Hanging the sign took a bit of time because we had to rig to to hang correctly.
This was the second table. Next time I want the entire top to be white so the jewelry can be seen a little bit easier. Maybe add some risers. My goal for the next picture is not to get my butt in it again!
The second side table was where I placed my string art. I think the plate holders were definitely a nice touch.
While I was busy inside, my boyfriend scoped out the best fresh squeezed lemonade at the show, along with funnel cakes, barbecue nachos, and corn dogs.
Considering this was the first show I'd done in 3 years, I think I did a pretty good job overall. I made my vendor deposit back and around $300 extra, so I was pleased as punch! I was able to have most everything laid out on the tables, and I got some ideas for the next show in June!
Wish me luck!!
Hello, everyone! I hope all is well! Since Game of Thrones Season 6 is rolling out (episode 2 was this past Sunday), I thought it might be interesting to do a Weekly Wednesday with a Game of Thrones theme. When the show originally came out, I didn't want to watch it because it just wasn't my type of show, but my boyfriend got me to watch it, and I'll have to admit that it's pretty darn good...now if George R.R. Martin would finish the books before he dies. There's a joke that he's never actually finish the books, which looks like it might be true considering the show has now surpassed what he's written. I mean, come on, there needs to be a complete series of books to base the show on not the other way around. Anyway, if you're a fan of the show, I'm sure you can hardly contain your excitement, so let's get started!
Item #1 is from ConsiderGraphics
Anyone else besides me have a hard time picturing the locations of some of the places in the show? I hope I'm not the only one, but even if you know where all the places are, this highly detailed map would be a great piece for the ultimate fan! This map includes the seven kingdoms and the free cities along with the geological details of the areas. Each map is handprinted (the original was hand-drawn) in one of three sizes on heavy weight archival matte paper in high quality, long lasting ink. All maps are shipped in a tube to prevent any damage. The map doesn't come with the frame, BUT you can get it here. This would be a great gift for a die hard fan or anyone who loves maps or nautical themes!
Item #2 is from BBALLPRIDE
Want the world to know you absolutely love Game of Thrones? You need this decal then! The decals are rated to last 6-7 years and are made to go on the outside of car windows, but I think you probably could stick them just about anywhere. There are two size options for the Game of Thrones decal: 11x4 inches (for cars) and 9x3 inches (for laptops, etc.). Even if you're not a person who puts decals on their car, you'll have to admit seeing one of these would alleviate a bit of that lovely road rage we all experience from time to time :)
Item #3 is from DesignGenesStudio
I had to laugh when I say this bag. "stick 'em with the pointy end" hahahahaha. I love this bag because it made me laugh and because it's eco friendly. Who doesn't need a tote bag? I always misplace mine (or maybe I just don't look hard enough), so I usually need one, And even if you have several totes already, what's one more for the collection?
Item #4 is from WalnutGroveBoardCo
Alrighty. We're moving the show from the TV to the kitchen with this one! This would be a great gift for any fan on pretty much any occasion. The 10x13 inch board is engraved with the Stark House wolf, "Game of Thrones," and "Dinner is Coming." I really like the play on words with "dinner" instead of "winter." You have a choice of six different types of wood: mahogany, walnut, hickory, cherry, maple, and white oak. No stains are used on the cutting board, so you are actually seeing the real color of the wood. Each one is sealed with a butcher block conditioner made from a mixture food-grade mineral oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax to protect the wood. Also, because trees are different, there will naturally be differences in the grains, so don't freak out. The cutting board is double sided, so the maker suggests using the back of the board for all of your cutting and serving and using the front side as more of a decoration. I'm really glad they gave this bit of information because that was what I was initially concerned about. I'm one of those that would be OCD about cuts on the engraved side as well as one who would take forever getting into each nook and cranny to clean it!
Item #5 is from BeerCapMapShop
When I cam across this, I thought it was completely original. I've never seen anything like this in any shape. This item is a beer cap map for those who love beer (definitely not me) and those who collect beer caps from their travels--a great memory keeper! This map is made from cork, but if cork isn't your style, you can get it in plywood form. It would be a great gift for Father's Day, birthday, or Christmas!
If you're wanting something unique--you definitely have it here!
Item #6 is from MerchantHeroes
I personally don't remember Sansa wearing this necklace in the show, but I did miss a lot of the previous season due to coming in from work and taking a "nap coma," but I still think it's a really interesting piece. You definitely won't see everyone wearing one of these. If you're into cosplay, this would be perfect for a Sansa outfit. The 31-inch chain is made from bronze and is high-quality and has a heavy gauge. The length makes the necklace adjustable which is a definite plus! Both focal pieces (the round black piece and the nail-like piece) are completely handmade. The black piece is made from a durable resin and hand-painted while the nail-like piece is made from paper clay and hand-painted (I love me some paper clay!). This is a statement piece so keep that in mind when choosing your outfit--this necklace ties everything together and you don't want a lot of distraction from it even though it is a minimalist piece.
Item #7 is from NexusGlass
So, when I originally was compiling this post, I chose a different set of shot glasses..yep, it sold out that quick, so I apologize if this one gets gone before you read this week's post. This maker has other Game of Thrones options so, I'm sure you can find something to your liking! There aren't a lot of these around, so they are rather unique and eye-catching. I think I actually like this set better than the one I originally chose. There's a slight curved lip on these, and the image is etched into the glass. These are also restaurant grade, so you can drink out of them and they are less likely to break! (Side note: A lot of shot glasses that you get as souvenirs aren't meant for you to drink from.) Another plus is that they are freezer and dishwasher safe! Whoop Whoop!! (Even though I don't have a dishwasher...I will someday). For this set of 6 you get to choose which houses you want on your set out of 14 options! Customize it with your favorite houses and drink up (but be safe).
Item #8 is from EricsGamesAndThings
Let's face it--Hodor is really the only humor we get in Game of Thrones aside from a hilarious Tyrion. That's his answer to everything. Hodor? Hodor. Maybe a language we don't know about? Probably not, but it is still funny.
Item #9 is from GeeksEmpire
If you're wanting a more subtle way of showing you're a fan of the show, maybe these etched wooden coasters are right up your alley. You get a box (that says "Game of Thrones") that contains 6 coasters with the houses of Westeros (and the Game of Thrones logo on the back) all made from Baltic Birch Plywood. The images are highly detailed and are very representative of the houses. These would be great for parties, small gatherings, or just normal everyday life. It doesn't say if these are sealed, so if you get them and they aren't, just get some sprayable polyurethane and give both sides a coat to prevent water damage (that's what I'd do).
Item #10 is from FencingNArchery
I'm sure you've been wondering where the clothing was, right? Well, here we are! It took me a while to actually find an item of clothing that I liked and thought was unqiue. "Valar Morghulis" is the phrase Arya Stark was given (along with a coin) by Jaqen H'ghar upon his departure. The phrase means "all men must die." Arya begins using this phrase in her prayers along with the ones she wants dead. This particular shirt is a ladies fit scoop neck tee in heather black with cream-colored words. The shop has unisex versions of this shirt along with other Game of Thrones favorites!
